About Us

B and J were married in August 2007. Immediately after their honeymoon, they moved to downtown D.C. to start their new life together. Like countless transplants before them, they have discovered Washington's charm all while settling into a new home, building new social networks, and starting new jobs. Two DC shares two people's experiences and opinions on life, food, and fun in our Nation's capital.

F.A.Q.

Where are you from?
We were both born and raised in Southern California.  Before moving to D.C., neither of us had lived more than 40 miles from the hospitals where we were born.

How did you meet?
Sleeping on the concrete while camping out for basketball games in college.

Why did you move to D.C.?
B scored a snazzy science policy fellowship.

Why did you start this blog?
To have a creative outlet and a way to document our time in D.C. J pondered the idea of starting a food blog but didn't think she'd have time to keep it up on her own.  B suggested that we try blogging together and TwoDC was born.

What are your real names?
B and J.  Our parents were into the brevity thing.  No seriously, we can't tell you because we're in the witness protection program.  Or we're CIA agents.  Or we have such long names that we can't remember how to spell them.  Or...

What are your hobbies?
Attending sporting events, travel (together we've traveled to French Polynesia, Spain, France, the UK, Italy, Vietnam, Cambodia, Japan, South Africa, Puerto Rico, and all over the U.S.), eating out, ultimate frisbee, riding our bikes, flying trapeze, cooking (especially bread and creme brulee), and each other.

What do you do?
You can't go two feet in D.C. without being asked this question.  J is a big firm energy law attorney and B works for the federal government in science policy.  A doctor and a lawyer, just like the Huxtables.

What kind of camera do you use?
We recently switched from an old Canon Powershot to a Nikon Coolpix s8100.  We blog about our lives instead of living to blog, so we don't carry a DSLR around (though we use a Nikon D5000 when we travel).  J carries the camera in her purse and B takes the photos.
